Privacy Policy
This policy describes how All Things New (hopestartsherecd.org) collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information. It reflects how this website actually works.
Who we are
All Things New is a free ministry website offering Bible study guides, emotional-need reflection journeys, and a way to request prayer or spiritual support. We design the site to collect only what is needed for those purposes.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may process:
- Account details — first name, email address, and a password (stored only as a secure hash). We create an internal username from your email so you can sign in. We do not ask for last name, phone, address, or payment details at registration.
- Study progress — when you are signed in, which guides you open or complete, your reading step, and quiz answers (selected choices and whether they were correct), so you can resume your journey.
- Spiritual support requests — the name, contact detail (email or phone), preferred contact method, request type, and message you submit when asking for prayer, a Bible question, conversation, a personal study, baptism inquiry, or another request. If you are signed in, the request may be linked to your account.
- Consent records — timestamps when you agree to these Terms and this Privacy Policy at registration, and when you agree before sending a support message.
- Technical data — essential cookies described below, and basic server or hosting logs that may include IP address, browser type, and request time, used for security and reliability.
You can read many studies without an account. Guests may take quizzes while reading; those answers are not saved to an account unless you are signed in. We do not collect marketing profiles, and we do not ask end users to upload photos or documents.
Why we collect it
- To create and secure your account and let you sign in
- To save and restore study progress and quiz attempts for signed-in readers
- To route and respond to prayer and support messages through our ministry care team
- To send account messages you request, such as a password-reset email
- To keep the site secure, prevent abuse, and maintain the service
Cookies and similar technologies
We use the following categories:
- Essential — session cookie (keeps you signed in during a visit) and CSRF security cookie (protects forms). These are required for the site to work safely and are always active.
- Preferences — a language cookie when you choose a language, and a small consent cookie that remembers your cookie choices. Preference cookies are used only after you accept them (or choose preferences) in our cookie banner, except where you actively change language yourself.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers on this site. You can change or withdraw preference consent by clearing site data in your browser or using the cookie settings control in the footer when available.
How we use and share information
Support messages are treated as confidential ministry correspondence. They may be read by assigned ministry team members (such as pastors, prayer partners, or evangelists) so they can pray and respond. Routing emails to those team members may include your name and an excerpt of your message.
We use trusted processors that help us host and run the site (for example, database and application hosting, and an email service for password resets and ministry notifications). Those providers process data only to provide their service. We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of a person or the integrity of the ministry.
When pages load fonts from Google Fonts or images from Unsplash, your browser connects to those services, which may receive technical data such as IP address. We use those services to display the site; we do not send them your account or support form contents.
How long we keep information
- Account, progress, and quiz data — until you delete your account, or longer if we must retain limited records for security or legal reasons.
- Support requests — kept as needed for spiritual care and ministry records. If you delete your account, personal contact details on linked requests are removed or anonymized; anonymized care notes may remain.
- Server logs — retained only as long as needed for security and operations.
- Cookie consent preference — until it expires or you clear it.
How we protect information
Passwords are hashed, not stored in plain text. Production traffic uses HTTPS. Access to support messages and ministry tools is limited to authorized team members. No online service is perfectly secure; please use a strong unique password and contact us if you suspect misuse of your account.
Your rights and choices
- Browse many studies without creating an account
- Update your first name and email in your profile
- Reset your password using the email on your account
- Delete your account permanently from your profile (password confirmation required). Progress and quiz data are deleted; support messages are anonymized as described above
- Accept or reject non-essential (preference) cookies via the cookie banner
- Ask questions about your data through our Spiritual Support form
Where privacy laws such as the GDPR apply to you, you may also have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Contact us through Spiritual Support to make a request.
Children
This site is intended for a general audience seeking spiritual encouragement. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the digital-consent age in your country). If you believe a child has shared personal data with us inappropriately, please contact us so we can delete it.
Spiritual care — not emergency help
If you are in immediate danger or need urgent medical or mental-health help, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional. This website is not an emergency service.
Changes
We may update this policy when our practices or features change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
